One thing I have learned (and even been told by an Attorney General's Office), is to NEVER use the "Removal" numbers at the bottom of most junk faxes.  Junk faxing in all cases is already illegal, so the junk faxer is not obeying any law that makes them have to use a fax removal number.  In many cases, calling one of these numbers will only add your fax number to a list of active fax numbers, only to be sold and used again (to send you more faxes).

So.......although tempting as a "maybe it'll work," don't call the Removal numbers!  They NEVER work (except to tell some junk faxer that there's someone at your number to read their faxes).

I joined this forum because I'm exasperated with the waste of paper junk faxers are causing to my business.  Thank you for telling me about the fax removal numbers.  I dial these every day and guess what -- I've been getting more faxes.

Yeah, is there anything I can do to stop the faxes?

how exactly do I stop junk faxes?  I have registered on as many fax removal lists possible but they still keep coming.  I have tried the FCC but that doesn't work either.  I have read the above info and I do find that in many cases once I phone in on the fax removal line they do in fact remove us.  The problem still remains that I get a few that have no number to call.  Stock Watch is the worst offender of them all.  They have only an office number and removal line but they ignore that.  Got any advice.  Thank you.

Please search the rest of this forum on this topic.  There is much information already provided and it keeps getting repeated:  junk faxing is illegal.  Junk faxers are breaking the law, and they know it.  Calling removal numbers will only get your number sold to more junk faxers.  The only way to stop it is to somehow locate the origin of the business and file a complaint with the home state attorney general of the offender (and hope the state gets other complaints and actually wants to enforce the laws).   In the case of stock faxes, these are criminals who would go to jail if their identiy was known, therefore it is hard to know who they really are.
